Its my prediction that science will kill the death penalty. We’d like to think that genetics have nothing to do with criminal behavior but in some cases it does.
Neuroscience and genetics are starting to show that some people are born with a predisposition to violence. A predisposition brings culpability into question and can be used as a mitigating factor. Mitigation can produce a reprieve from a governor or life in prison instead of execution. In some states genetic evidence has already reduced murder charges to manslaughter.
